Anaesthesiology

The Department of Anaesthesiology at Zydus Hospital provides expert anaesthesia care for patients undergoing surgery or major diagnostic procedures like cardiac surgery, orthopaedic surgeries, endoscopy etc. The department focuses on minimising pain and maximizing perioperative comfort of the patients.

The Department has skilled and experienced anaesthesiologists who are also qualified in pain medicine including labour analgesia. The team members are committed to provide high quality care through the leading edge technology and facilities.

The Department also participate in critical care of the patients in various intensive care units.

Pain Management

It is a subspecialty Of anaesthesiology, an interdisciplinary approach to ease the suffering and improve the quality of life of those living with pain.

The pain management team includes the pain consultant / anaesthesiologist, primary consultant of the patient, psychiatrists, neurologists, physiotherapists.

Pain sometimes resolves promptly once the underlying trauma or pathology has healed and is treated with drugs such as analgesics. Effective management of long term pain, however, frequently requires the coordinated efforts of the management team.

Procedures of Pain Management

  • Pharmacologic measures, such as analgesics, tricyclic antidepressants and anticonvulsants.
  • Interventional procedures like epidural injections, facet joint injections, blocks, intrathecal drug.
  • Physiotherapy and exercise, application of ice and/or heat, Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS).
  • Psychological measures, such as biofeedback and cognitive behavioural therapy.
