The earlier a stroke patient is brought to Hospital, the better are his/her chances of recovery. The first 4.5 hours are critical for treatment.

Symptoms

Symptoms vary from person to person. Some people may have simple staring spells, while others have violent shaking and loss of alertness.

Diagnosis

  • Detail Clinical Neurological Examination by Neurologist
  • An EEG (ElectroEncephaloGram) will be done to check the electrical activity in the brain. Just like ECG for heart. The brain may appear normal after a seizure or between seizures.
  • Video EEG : Patient may need to stay in the hospital where brain activity can be watched on video cameras.
  • Head CT or MRI Brain with epilepsy protocol
